Dear Kristy,
I appreciate your comments also. I apologize to you and Drew for the unfortunate way I made my point and the more unfortunate way he ran across the post. You can tell him he taught a father of a diabetic 3 yr old to be more careful with his words and how to make his points. I never thought you or Drew would even see this site. I always talk about how the ADA doesn't seem to want to cure the disease as shown by how they allocate their money, and the literature they distribute, and when I saw the story about the camp I kicked into my 'more research funding' routine without thinking I would offend the people in the story. Again, sorry.
The ironic thing about me and the ADA, is, I always read about people with diabetes or parents of diabetics who are involved with fundraisers and activities for ADA, so, as I do care so deeply about people with the plight of diabetes, I am philisophically as deeply opposed to the very organization for which so many of them labor.
I have a big interest in caring for those who have a hard time dealing with and trying to control the disease as much as possible. In this site, I'm pretty much wearing my 'cure it' hat 100% of the time. However, when I meet a diabetic, I'm always asking them how their numbers are, if they have heard about Lantus, or if they treat their lows with OJ to boost thier vitamin c intake when possible. In other words I am about treatment on an individual level, but as policy, writing, posting, etc. for my advocacy, to 'get things done' I want a cure over all else, especially from organizations that have so much influence and money and political weight as the ADA.
Anyway peace to you and your cool son Drew and if I ever appear to be out of line again feel free to speak up pronto. I appreciate the feedback.
God Bless You,
Dennis
