I'm still confused about a couple of things... according to Atkins, wouldn't you expect people who eat lots of carbs to get fat... but people from countries where things like rice are a staple don't tend to be as chubby as Americans..
I think there is a lot more to this than we really understand.
On the other hand, there seems to be some good data suggesting that caloric restriction diets increase the lifespan of many animals (and perhaps people) by ~25%.
Of course that would be really controversial... not eating much of anything.
