I'm pretty black and white when it comes to this issue. I've stated elsewhere in this thread why I believe it is reasonable to continue using frozen fertilized eggs for stem cell research. We have a President who, IMO, needs to be swayed to do the (admittedly, what I see as) the right thing. He needs to hear a unified voice from the diabetes community (and many others). I haven't been quite sure what he means by "compassionate conservatism", but I think this might be a chance to find out.
If you believe in laying on hands, then do it. If you think you can pray away this illness, then do it. You are entitled to your belief. Do what you have to do. But don't prevent my children and thousands of others like them from having a chance at being cured because of your beliefs on this issue.
If using these frozen fertilized eggs was clearly murder, we wouldn't be having this debate. I don't believe it is murder and I believe the government should fund the research. In the past I believe you have stated your belief that the only projects likely to produce results are going to be those funded by private for-profit corporations. So, I'm not sure you believe the government should be funding research anyway.
