No one seems to know how far down the road stem-cells will prove viable, but it seems fair to say that it's certainly in the range of 5 plus year, and more probably.

Seems to me that those who are hopeful about stem cells should put all their eggs in one basket. If Wendy is president-elect of the NYC JDFI chapter, perhaps she can ascertain what percentage of the JDFI research budget is devoted to porcine islets and transplantation? If it's only a small percentage or dollar amount, perhaps she can 'lobby' the powers that be at JDFI to fund procine cells transplants more. As president-elect of a JDFI chapter, seems as if Wendy would have more input and influence, than trying to pursuade those in DC, many of whom consult their pollsters, etc. to see what stem-cell decision should be made that would best help them with their next election.
