"Isolated islets" are smaller than islets in the undisturbed pancreas. Processing the pancreas to make islets sometimes breaks them into fragments that then reform into islets.
ALso, the size is different from species to species.
The range is 50 microns to several hundred microns. As Al said, the larger ones are visible to the naked eye (especially when stained).
