REF:
I hope at the question and answer forum JDF holds every year with Dr. Nadji and other highly funded researchers; the Chapter volunteers ask hard- hitting questions instead of acting like they are at a religious revival meeting.

=========================

first of all... the passion of JDF volunteers is energized by the spontaneous "religious revival meeting" atmosphere that is prevalent at JDF conferences... if we eliminate the passion we
will eliminate the fuel that keep us going and focused on our
goal -- a cure for diabetes...

second of all - JDF'ers are known for their hard hitting questions when it comes to research... paraphrasing a report that was given to us... our goal oriented approach for funding and reviewing progress - includes a monthly check up or progress report for projects that JDF funds...

and as far as "where's the posts"...

Excuse us volunteers for not posting all the details you
seek about the JDF conference... (as timely as you might like)
I just woke up a few minutes ago - attempting to recover from
the joys of cross country travel with airline delays due to mechanical probs, rerouting and delays due to weather, sleep depreviation from attending and particpating in marathon conference sessions - and the emotional roller coaster of
seeing progress - as well as seeing the devastation of this
disease... this volunteer took a week off from work without
pay because "the success and direction of JDF" is a TOP PRIORITY at my house... right now I need to make final prep for our walk corporate kickoff breakfast set for tomorrow - then try to squeeze 40 hours of "employment" into the following three days...

but if i can summarize...

Conference attendees... met with and inspired by Rennee and Sandi - our fellow posters - and suggest we all do a "hats off"
for their dedication to finding a cure... with actions as well
as words.... and the hundreds of others who were also there...
which includes a dozen or so JDF'ers I met with in O'Hare airport - stranded and dazed... but determined to get home and continue the efforts to fund the finest in diabetes research

conference research updates... scale of 1 to 10 - about a 8.5... progress is being made... and on the tear generation scale.... it was a 9.9... based on the tear ducts of several
long time JDF'ers who have worked so hard for the past quarter century or so to support the goals of JDF...

research direction.... can you spell "On Target"....!!!!!
check out the jdf web site for details...

all in all - a satisfying and exhausting experience... I will
follow with details in the coming days when my brain cells
recover... see also Renee's Post
