I would have no way to verify this information, nor would I attempt to do so. I chose not to focus on that one statement, and rather moved on to the crux of what I felt Dr. Ricordi was explaining. You do bring up an excellent point that anyone could put any name in the name line on here.
Additionally, nowhere in the papers were either Dr. Kenyon or Dr. Ricordi quoted as saying they were "about to cure diabetes." The way I heard it and read it they feel this is an important step and a promising step in cure research - but it's experimental and they don't know how the human trials will pan out. They are going to try a therapy that may make islet transplantation successful in humans. I believe the media often gives more hype to entice people to watch the broadcasts and read the articles.
