Bone Marrow:

Bob:

This is true on the face of it but it is also true for immunosupressed individuals that received islets. Has the woman been taken off immunosupressants? That last I read, she has not. So has chimerism been fully effective? I think not. Further, as noted, there is only enough bone marrow for one transplant per donor. So if this works, who will get the bone marrow, the heart receipient or the islet receipient? I don't think that this research has any near term potential as a widely applied therapy.
