I've done my own soul searching with JDF but clearly feel they are filled with committed people including Dr. Mulvihill and his son. Dr. Mulvihill's son helped us organize our first WALK in Maine and made a significant contribution; he has diabetes.

I can't worry about anyone who trys to do something about diabetes. What shocks me is the apathy so many parents have about it.

So let's keep trying. Writing legislators, simply talking about it. Most people can't believe the dim prognosis and tire of hearing of me, but I think our Senator Susan Collins has listened, so I'll keep talking. Our newspaper will give us a free ad for our walk; the TV station appears interested in running the PSA's; I think I have a good connection with the Lions Club; I'm trying to get some more letters written for the Children's Congress, but apologize that I put a lot of effort into ghosting about twenty letters on DRWG for parents too busy to write.

As Sandra says, one can lay awake at night thinking if they have done enough.

Let's remember JDF funds both Miami and Minnesota and has established a $10 million program to ensure adequate supply for these fledging programs. The JDF chair has lost his leg to diabetes and donated $14 million.

We hope anything works, but let's keep working for anything we feel comfortable with and save the criticism of each other. I think most that are involved are trying as hard as they can at this point and that program funding has been sharpened. In the end, all these organizations are only run by people so there will be some mistakes. Let's get to work.
