I'm yet another Mom here. Your questions are good ones (I have the same ones about the autoimmunity stuff), and you should ask them when they call you back. As far as cost goes, ask DRI, but I would expect the cost to be in the thousands. Insurance coverage in my opinion is not likely to come quickly, even if everything works beautifully. Doing this transplant on adults is one thing, but everyone (FDA, etc.) go very slowly and carefully with kids. Insurance companies are notorious for not covering things until THEY decide the therapy isn't "experimental" or too new. But, if this transplant therapy works, I think much could be done by government/industry to promote its acceptance and coverage.
