Hi Al,

I love the forum here Al, can you tell? :-).

I found myself discussing the Endocrine Disruptor topic in the "Parents" chat room at children with diabetes this morning, and recognized it wasn't the place to discuss this with parents who have only recently learned of their children's diagnosis. Would it be possible to set up a chat room here at TIF? Certainly it should NEVER replace the message board, but rather work as an adjunct to it. I for one think it would be great to chat with those of us who feel passionate about various topics, and to surf the web together and look for answers at the same time.

There was a mother in the parents' chat room last night who has a 10 year old with diabetes (for several years), and her 3 year old is now in the midst of full blown diabetes too. Her 3 year old has been tested for ICA, ICAA, GADab and ICA512 - all negative. Is it possible the little guy was contaminated by exposure to some toxin and actually has chemically induced diabetes? (I did NOT mention this to that mother.)

When our children are in DKA and have bgs over 800, it's clear the diagnosis is diabetes and treatment and training is what follows. How often are they tested to see if these children have antibodies?

Always willing to learn.

Ellen
