The other item is this month's Diabetes Forecast article about where diabetes will be (or not) in 50 years. They assembled about a dozen people (including Dr. Eastman of NIDDK) and asked them where they thought things would be. Some went on about neat insulin delivery systems and non-invasive meters. Some talked about novel behavioral advances. Some said there would not be a cure 50 years from now. Overall, I was underimpressed and depressed by the article.
