I have a 19 year old son who has had Diabetes for 11 years. I have just started to research what info was available on a CURE for Diabetes. I was told 11 years ago that islet cell transplants would probably cure my son's Diabetes, and wondered why nothing was being done in this area. I found a story about how a Dr. Cochrum had injected a diabetic dog with encapsulated islet cells 5 years ago. The dog is still healthy and happy and no longer Diabetic! Research was supposed to begin hopefully on humans as early as summer of 1999. Has anyone out there heard anything about this fascinating procedure?
