: Wake up!
: When I spoke to Alastair at the Islet Foundation he said that JDF may be improving and that we should not throw the baby out with the bath water. Hey Al, wake up! There is no baby. Just dirty bath water with the scum floating to the top.
You are right on with your evaluation of JDF and their opinion of lay people. In response to one letter I sent to the president of JDFI, imploring him to fund islet transplant research, he wrote, "All of us are impatient for the cure. That cure must be real, safe and efficacious however." Gee, as a lay person, I would never have thought of that. If anyone at JDF actually looked into islet transplantation, they would soon realize that it is the realest and safest method around.
As far as Al saying that there may be some changes at JDF, he's a man who looks on the positive side of everything. He knows, and it's no secret, that the Islet Foundation does not have large amounts of cash. The JDF is loaded. If ever they decided to fund cure research, diabetes would be gone. If the Islet Foundation and its supporters could put enough pressure on JDF, there would be plenty of money to cure diabetes. I say we go for it.
