The Faustman lab and MGH can not release the specific scientific data of phase I until it is published by a peer reviewed science journal. That is in the works as we speak and takes time. The announcement is to let everyone know that Phase I is completed and passed FDA and MGH safety requirements to move to phase II. On the contrary, they would not be raising funds full steam ahead with plans for phase II if,as you put it, "that machine just didn't work and they couldn't use any of it's data"!
On the contrary, they are excited and want to move on to phase II AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
