No I don't think having a human islet or pancreas transplant would be necessarily a bar to having a subsequent xenotransplant.
However we do not know the effect of the immune suppression used for the human donor transplants. There is some evidence that these drugs are not good for islets.
We do not anticipate being in the clinic before 2013 and even then in a very limited way.
The best alternative to transplantation of any sort is combined continuous glucose monitoring +insulin pump. This is however as expensive as transplantation ( maybe even more).
It might be worth a short trial to see how you get on.
