Campamento Diabetes Safari 2010 will be held from 1 - 4 May 2010, near Mexico City. This all-inclusive diabetes camp for children and adolescents 7 to 18 years of age, with DM1, is international, bilingual, co-ed, residential, and committed to giving young persons the opportunity to gain the know-how needed to maintain stable and safe (non-complication-promoting)
glycemic levels, when and if they so wish.
Education and supervision are always individualized and personalized to each Camper's current needs and interests. Education is self-directed in terms of content and timing.
At least 60% of the adult Staff also have DM1, and the Staff to Campers ratio is 1:2. Most Campers have averaged about 95 mg/dL over the 4 days of the education and recreation provided in a beautiful subtropical setting. The all-inclusive cost per Camper is accessible ($225 USD), exclusive of transportation.
