As we are talking only reduction of insulin and not elimination and reduction of highs and lows, we still will be the ones to manage and deal everyday with diabetes, so for me an A1c of 7 doesn't seem to provide that much of a difference. If we were talking about a period of time -even less than a year- with no insulin that is another story we would definatelly settle with 7.0, in the prospect that each year my son could do the treatment again.
