The far majority of Type-1s need to be quite proactive and careful 24/7 to have a HbA1c below 8. In terms of benefit you also have to consider the non-stop time and concern most Diabetics taking insulin 'waste' in this, and how much they would be willing to spend to ease up on this nonstop never ending tight insulin/food/execise regime, and then with LCT still remaining with a fairly nice HbA1c of 7.0 that maybe until then was just the happy exception and most often not within reach in real daily life for most.
A decreese from e.g. 8.0 down to 7.0 would also bring a much larger benefit than the incremental gained benefit going further down from 7.0 to 6.0. So in healthcare economic terms you will not see as big ROI for that last bit as for the first giant leap getting all LCT treated down to the fair HbA1c value of 7.0.
Personally I would be greatful to have 7.0 sat as my top-marker by LCT. Mainly as I will assume (hopefully rightful so) that by having the LCT getting me to the 7.0, I will actually experience fewer highs and lows than otherwise possible with intensive injected insulin therapy getting me the same HbA1c result at 7.0.
