There has been much discussion among academics and others about what degree of benefit from islet transplantation without immune suppression obenfit would warrant what expense. I have not seen any comments by diabetic people themselves about this.
Obviously complete and permanent insulin independence without notabe side effects would be worth the $1,000,000 or so life time costs of orthodox diabetes treatment,
But what about lesser degress of success?
Things like normalisation of HbA1c, unaware or frequent severe hypoglycemia? I would be interested in feed back.
