Amazing! Why does JDRF have to use donors' money to support the development of a device that assures absolute dependence on consumables along with a lifelong annuity even greater than insulin? Seems that the artificial pancreas is an ideal candidate for the private sector alone, isn't it? Or is JDRF part of that same private sector, using its status as a charity, as opposed to the open equity market, to raise funding?

The staggering liability of a device that has the potential to drift and send a user into a hypoglycemic stupor when driving a vehicle will never hit the market. Or if it does, diabetic users can kiss goodbye to the "privilege" of driving. Perhaps JDRF loves this one because it is no threat to them or the drug companies, and stands to dramatically increase the monthly dollars drug companies rake in from families with diabetes.

Meanwhile, LCT are now on the verge of human clinical trials in a third country without receiving a penny from JDRF, and JDRF acts as if they do not exist.

What is wrong with this picture?
