NPH has a distinct peak after 4-6 hours after injection and fades relatively fast during following 8-10 hours, with virtually no effect left after 16-18 hours.

Levemir also has a distinct peak 4-8 hours after injection, depending on total dose. And also has a constant declining effect curve just after the peak. With virtually no effect left after 18-20 hours.

Shown effect curve for Lantus has minimal/moderateted peak in comparison to both others, and has a more sustained and constant effect even after 16-20+ hours. (see same first page as for NPH)

And yes, I am a happy user of Lantus after trying the other two for years before then.
Goodbuy evening highs and early morning night sweats/convulsions, I am not missing you!

Take Lantus shot at morning and you can measure bg at 120 before midnight and go to bed with a good conscience.
