Can someone tell me the difference between the differnet types of human insulin analogues, synthetic human insulins and animal insulins?

I've heard a lot of complaining about these synthetic human insulins and human analoges compared to the pure animal insulins like porcine.

My daughter has been on primarily Novolog with the pump for 10 years. In December, she wanted to try shots and went on Lantus and Novolog pens.

It's pretty much been a nightmare. Her weight gain over the last 2 years is about 30 pounds (8-10 pounds this winter with Lantus) and unexplained highs and lows. She hardly menstruates and was recently diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). I found several research articles out of Chile looking into the excessive exogenous insulin requirements in teenage and young females with type I to control blood sugars linked to a 50% incidence of PCOS! PCOS is the #1 reason for female infertility. The large amounts of exogenous insulin cause the body to produce large amounts of LH and testosterone which results in symptoms like increased weight, increased BMI, acne, decreased ovulation, even male characteristics of facial and body hair.
These articles were published in 2006-2007. I'm wondering if they are linked to the change over from pure porcine insulins to these manufactured synthetic insulins? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
