I am over the moon with enthusiasm just knowing HUMAN clinical trials will be starting in NZ and then hopefully move to the US too. Technology can only improve to bring on normoglycemia or close to it ASAP. This is viable. There can potentially be an unlimited supply of cells - enough for ALL. (stop wasting precious research dollars continuing to transplant human cadaver cells with toxic immunosuppression. There will never be sufficient islets, and the drugs are too toxic to ever be for every person in need of islets).
After all the years I've watched this board and participated, I am more enthusiastic than ever. It's hard to contain myself - and I am baffled that more TIFers aren't feeling the same thing!
I recall when first discovering this board - thinking "they're crazy, all they think about is xeno....." Al , I 'm so glad I stuck around, even with all the bashing that has taken place. I could not be more proud, more excited, or more enthusiastic to wish LCT the very best of luck in proceeding and proving efficacy in HUMANS (not NOD mice, or Cohen Mice, or BB Rats or the plethora of other animals where the translation of cure from their species to humans has never happened).
I believe LCT is indeed doing this job for "us" - for the lives of our loved ones with diabetes.
With some humor and to intentionally misquote Buzz Lightyear "To Xeno/Normoglycemia and Beyond!"
