When/if proof of efficacy and safety is satisfied for medical officials in countries around the world, other companies will jump in in order to offer this treatment (perhaps through licensing technology or developing similar). The price will have to go down because by making it affordable (for insurance and private pay), it will ultimately yield a much higher profit for industry. This will not simply be a treatment for the elite. It appears to me that Dr. Elliott never intended encapsulated porcine islet therapy to be for the wealthy and well to do only, and his goal has been to restore normoglycemia for the entire diabetes community.
