What a perfect combination of passion and reason!
It did go to ALL the cabinet ministers, didn't it? Just need to be sure.
And by all means, fire off a second message stressing the scientific reasons why this trial should proceed.
You may wish to mention the following:
If the NZ cabinet were to disallow the LCT trials, then they must likewise ban the use of pig clotting factor, ban all travel to countries where the ebola virus is present, and ban blood transfusions. Why? If diabetics are being sentenced to suffer and die out of a misguided fear of a non-existent PERV infection threat, then why let hemophiliacs live? If a threat to public health is their reason, then ebola has infected and killed millions and could trigger a deadly epidemic from anyone returning from a visit to many African countries. And if "spritual" and "cultural" threats are the reason (and two NZ Ministers of Health have cited these factors), then anyone needing a blood transfusion must be allowed to die because such a procedure violates the spiritual values of Jehovah's Witnesses and other religious groups. To do otherwise would make a ban on the LCT trials inconsistent, unconstitutional, and discriminatory against one disease group.
You can just copy-and-paste that verbatim if you wish to. and don't worry about the same message coming from multiple people. It is volume that counts.
So, hit them again!
