I posted this as reference to you saying there were no genetic tests available to predict Type 1 RISK. If you do not have this gene, specific HLA types, etc. your risk may be very low to pass it on. Conversely, if for whatever reason your partner carries this gene but does not express clinical T1D, it would make any offspring presumably high risk.
There is no way to predict if someone will become Type 1 or not. But the point that some of us were trying to make was that we feel the risk (especially for some of us can be as high as 50% per child) that our child *would* get Type 1 would be greater than we would like to gamble with.
