When you make a decision which has the potential of drastically worsening the future life of another human being, and you do this without consulting them as to whether they want to run this risk for the benefit of having any life at all, the matter is not, as you so incorrectly put it, "an individual choice." You value your own individual autonomy sufficiently not to want other people criticizing your decisions or giving you advice, such as Sarah and I are implicitly or explicitly doing, and yet you are willing to arrogate to yourself the role of judge, jury, and executioner in deciding whether another human being is to bear the risk of suffering never-ending blood sugar swings, injecting himself five times a day, going blind, losing limbs, becoming paralyzed through neuropathy, suffering kidney failrue, heart attack, and stroke!
