Are you talking about the book excerpt or some other article? I read the excerpt and I don't see it as any more 'heartbreakingly sad' than it would be if the parent had never heard of T1D. I just have a different perspective on it, I don't know.
My point in attacking you and klausen was that the notion that this was somehow a moral decision (not to have children) is nonsense as is your more recent point about benefitting society. By what standards can you claim to benefit society? Reduced incidence of incidence of this particular disease, sure I'll grant you that, but do you seriously believe that is the only consideration?
