Way to go. Neither Klausen nor I said that. What's hopeless is people who think that it's ok to continue to pollute the gene pool with horrible diseases like lupus and Type 1 running in the family. Just because some Type 1's become gold medalists doesn't discredit the fact that many are blind and on dialysis by age 30. How would you know which your child might be? There is nothing more messed up than seeing young diabetics who have had strokes and are missing limbs, etc.

If we don't show the world that Type 1 is NOT a manageable disease, and that not all of us are living easily with it, then what incentive is there for a cure?????

P.S. I have to admit that the only thing positive about having Type 1 is the RC site, which I am guessing you are referring to. Funny as hell.
