Everything relating to childbirth is a calculable risk, Klausen. After an amnio, the docs might tell you that your child has a 1/1600 chance of developing Down's Syndrome, for instance. Do you abort? Based on your logic, 1/1600 is a "conceivable and calculable" risk.
A certain percentage of children are born with heart defects. That is a known risk. Where do you draw the line and just say having children *at all* is just too risky?
Each person has to draw their own line and decide the risk to assume.
FWIW of all the T1's I know who have kids (this would be hundreds if you count internet groups/boards), none to date has developed D.
