An interesting side-light on your story is the case of Emperor Frederick II of the Holy Roman Empire (the medieval ruler, not the Prussian King of the 18th century!). Frederick was quite interested in the esoteric sciences, and he wanted to discover what the natural language of humans was. He had a number of newborn children put in an isolated wing of his castle, and the nurses were instructed never to speak a word in their presence, so the first words the children spoke would be guaranteed to be the 'true natural language' of humanity. Further to this goal, contact between the nurses and the children was kept to an absolute minimum necessary to sustain life. Sure enough, instead of the children starting spontaneously to speak Hebrew at age 2, as Frederick thought was likely from his reading of the Bible, the children all died from lack of nurturing.
