I totally get your point. I don't do bad with the guys at all. It's just that when they find out I have a GENETIC illness I can pass on, and the fact that I may suffer and die an early death, it makes keeping a guy around a little harder. Many people with diseases also have to "settle" for a partner who may not be as good (attractive, etc.) as the one they could have if they weren't sick.

In many countries, Type 1 is hidden, as you are shunned and it will decrease your chance of marriage. Interestingly enough, those countries also have the lowest incidence of Type 1, although I admit there are other factors such as protective genetics of these racial groups.

Hope is great, but it does not prevent Type 1 nor suffering.

I personally could not produce a child who will suffer and feel hope, joy, or acceptance. Just can't!
