First of all Aaron Vinik went on a huge publicity campaign a few years ago to hype INGAP. He even hired a publicist. He managed to get headlines that screamed that INGAP was the greatest thing since insulin and that he had the cure. Those were close to the actual words used!
The next thing, he sells INGAP to Lilly (now we know what all the publicity was about, boosting the selling price) and returns to being a specialist in neuropathy which is a complication of a disease that he claimed to be on the verge of curing. This is not the behavior of someone who is on the verge of curing diabetes.
Then Lilly spend a few years working on INGAP and decide that is has no potential and give it back to Aaron Vinik.
Now Procter and Gamble are lookig at INGAP and have trials underway but the inside track on these trials say that ther is no sign of benefit and many adverse effects.
Now Aaron Vinik is writing articles that basically say that he isn't the only one who has failed and mentions all the other dogs. He then talks about INGAP and others as being the hope for the future but doesn't even mention pig islets and encapsulation. Totally self-serving and unscientific.
After a while I have been jerked around so many times by someone that I no longer believe them.
Patrick Soon-Shiong was one and Aaron Vinik is another, maybe not as bad.
